In its resolution 59/296, section VIII, the General Assembly expressed concern at the practice of hiring individual contractors or individuals on procurement contracts to perform functions of a continuing nature, and requested the Secretary-General to revert to the Assembly for its consideration of the creation of a post if the function was so warranted.
