The Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction states in article 12, paragraphs 1 and 2, that " a Review Conference shall be convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations five years after the entry into force of this Convention " , with the purpose of the Review Conference to be:
1- تنص اتفاقية حظر استعمال وتخزين وإنتاج ونقل الألغام المضادة للأفراد وتدمير تلك الألغام في الفقرتين 1 و2 من المادة 12 على أن " يدعو الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة إلى عقد مؤتمر للاستعراض بعد مضي خمس سنوات على بدء نفاذ هذه الاتفاقية " ، بحيث يكون الغرض من المؤتمر الاستعراضي ما يلي:

The Conference shall, not later than one year after the expiration of the fifth and the tenth year after the entry into force of this Convention, and at such other times within that time period as may be decided upon, convene in special sessions to undertake reviews of the operation of this Convention.
22 - يجتمع المؤتمر، في موعد لا يتجاوز سنة واحدة بعد انقضاء السنتين الخامسة والعاشرة على بدء نفاذ هذه الاتفاقية، وحسبما يتقرر في أوقات أخرى خلال تلك الفترة، في دورات استثنائية لإجراء استعراضات لسير العمل بالاتفاقية.
