In November 1993, ECA, in collaboration with the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the Government of Uganda, organized the Regional Conference on Women, Peace and Development, which adopted the Kampala Action Plan on Women and Peace.

(g) The Regional Conference on Women and Peace, and the Kampala Action Plan on Women and Peace (1993) which was adopted by the Council of Ministers of OAU at its sixtieth session held in Tunis in June 1994;

Following the African Conference on the Convention on Cluster Munitions, which was held on 29 and 30 September 2008 in Kampala, and in keeping with the Kampala Action Plan adopted during the Conference, it is our expectation that all African States will sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions in Oslo on 3 December 2008.

In cooperation with the Economic Commission for Africa, OAU had organized a Regional Conference on Women, Peace and Development which had adopted the Kampala Action Plan on Women and Peace. It had continued to join with other institutions in efforts to eradicate discriminatory practices against girls and women in Africa and to promote gender equity.
وقد نظمت منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية، بالتعاون مع اللجنة الاقتصادية ﻷفريقيا، مؤتمرا إقليميا بشأن المرأة والسلام والتنمية، اعتمد خطة عمل كمبالا بشأن المرأة والسلام؛ كما واصلت الانضمام إلى المؤسسات اﻷخرى في بذل الجهود الرامية إلى القضاء على الممارسات التمييزية ضد الفتيات والنساء في أفريقيا وإلى تعزيز المساواة بين الجنسين.
