44. The observer for Ethiopia said that his delegation was delighted that the draft declaration had been adopted after 13 years of extensive discussions.
٤٤- وقال المراقب عن إثيوبيا إن وفده يشعر بالابتهاج لاعتماد مشروع اﻹعلان بعد ٣١ سنة من المناقشات المستفيضة.

She reminded the Committee that the situation had fundamentally changed when Eritrea had become independent from Ethiopia in 1993.
وذكﱠرت اللجنة بأن الحالة تغيرت تغيرا جذريا عندما استقلت إريتريا عن إثيوبيا في عام ١٩٩٣.

The Committee was informed by the observer for Ethiopia that the organization had not re-registered in accordance with recent national legislation and hence did not at the current time enjoy the legal status that would allow the organization to operate.
وعلمت اللجنة من المراقب عن إثيوبيا أن المنظمة لم تعد التسجيل وفقا لما ينص عليه تشريع وطني صدر حديثا، ومن ثم فإنها لا تتمتع في هذا الوقت بالمركز القانوني الذي يسمح لها بممارسة مهامها كمنظمة.

He stresses that both his long absence from Ethiopia and his political views would put him at a real risk of being persecuted in case of return to his home country.
وأكد على أن كلاً من غيابه الطويل عن إثيوبيا وآرائه السياسية ستعرضه لخطر فعلي للاضطهاد في حال عودته إلى بلده الأصلي.

Also in attendance were the representatives of Ethiopia, Finland, Nepal and Ukraine, representing the Bureau of the Council.
