31. In its previous report on the financing of UNMIK, the Advisory Committee pointed out the need to monitor carefully and lower bank charges (A/57/772/Add.3, para. 53).

24. In its report on the financing of UNMEE for 2004/05, the Advisory Committee indicated that, in view of the fact that the headquarters in Asmara had been assessed as particularly vulnerable, efforts had begun to identify a more security-suitable option.

Although the Advisory Committee does not object to the proposed staffing requirements, it recommends that the functions described in the report be undertaken with due regard to efficiency and that the administration review the overall need for locally recruited language assistants with a view to reducing their number. The results of the review should be reflected in the next report on the financing of UNMIBH.

Based on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions contained in paragraph 22 of its report on the financing of UNMIK dated 23 April 2007 (A/61/852/Add.8), the General Assembly, by its resolution 61/285, appropriated the amount of $210,676,800 gross ($193,449,600 net) for the maintenance of the Mission for the period from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008.

In paragraph 9 of its report, the Advisory Committee had requested that the next report on the financing of UNAMIR should contain information on how the United Nations organizations and offices, including the Tribunal, coordinate the use of premises, transport, security arrangements, communications and so on, with a view to optimizing the use of available resources.
