II. Draft declaration on a culture of peace
ثانيا - مشروع إعلان عن ثقافة السلام

Over the past year, this concept has been further developed, as reflected in the draft programme of action on a culture of peace contained in the consolidated report submitted by the Secretary-General in document A/53/370.
في السنة الماضية تطور هذا المفهوم، كما ينعكس في مشروع برنامج العمل عن ثقافة السلام الوارد في التقريــر الموحد المقدم من اﻷمين العام في الوثيقة A/53/370.

We agree with the recommendations of the report transmitted by the Secretary-General on a culture of peace that a particularly important dimension of the dialogue among civilizations is inter-religious dialogue, which implies dialogue both among religions and within a single religion.
ونتفق مع توصيات التقرير الذي أحاله الأمين العام عن ثقافة السلام بأن أحد الأبعاد المهمة بصفة خاصة للحوار بين الحضارات هو الحوار فيما بين الأديان، الذي يعني الحوار فيما بين كل الأديان والحوار داخل الدين الواحد.

Therefore, it is appropriate that the General Assembly, by resolution 51/101 of 12 December 1996, requested not only a report on UNESCO activities, but also elements for a draft provisional declaration and programme of action on a culture of peace.

I should not wish to conclude this statement on the culture of peace without briefly mentioning Benin's experience in this area.

At the invitation of the President of Mozambique, UNESCO will help organize a conference on the culture of peace and governance in September 1997.
