53. At the same time, the agreements entered into by the parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade would make it necessary to review the services rendered by the Consolidated List with a view to delineating the future publication of the List.

At its first meeting, in decision RC-1/15 on cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade requested the secretariat in decision RC-1/15, on Cooperation with the World Trade Organization, to take the following actions:

Requests the head of the Secretariat, in the light of decision RC-3/7 of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention, to report to the Conference of the Parties at its fourth meeting on any decision taken by the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the use of currencies other than the United States dollar for the budget and accounts of that Convention.

Reference is made to decision VIII/8 adopted by the Conference of the Parties at its eighth meeting, to decision SC-2/15 of the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and to decision RC3/8 of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade.

Asbestos is a highly toxic substance that has been banned or severely restricted for health or environmental reasons by several States, and is included in the list of hazardous industrial chemicals contained in the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade (Rotterdam Convention).

The " Convention PIC procedure " means the PIC procedure as described in the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, which will become mandatory for the Parties to the Convention once the Convention enters into force;
(ب) إن " إجراء الموافقة المسبقة عن علم التابع للاتفاقية " يعني إجراء الموافقة المسبقة عن علم على النحو الموصوف في اتفاقية روتردام بشأن إجراء الموافقة المسبقة عن علم المطبق على مواد كيماوية ومبيدات آفات خطرة معينة متداولة في التجارة الدولية والذي يصبح ملزماً للأطراف في الاتفاقية بمجرد دخول الاتفاقية حيز النفاذ؛
