Annex I to the present note sets out the executive summary of the technical paper, on the basis of which the ad hoc working group has prepared draft recommendations on alternatives to the use of PFOS in open applications as set out in annex II to the present note.

Introducing the sub-item, the representative of the secretariat recalled that by its decision POPRC-7/5 the Committee had established an ad hoc working group, chaired by Mr. Samuel Banda (Zambia), to prepare the technical paper on alternatives to perfluoroactane sulfonic acid in open applications.
