3. The selection of assets proposed for donation has been guided by the principles endorsed by the General Assembly in section VII of its resolution 49/233 A of 23 December 1994 and is based on a determination that the assets are not required, nor are they suitable for transfer to other missions or for temporary storage at the United Nations Logistics Base in Brindisi, Italy.

207. in section VII of its resolution 47/216, the General Assembly had urged the Commission " as a complement to studies being undertaken in the remuneration area, to give equal attention in its work programme to measures designed to promote sound personnel management in the international public service, including recruitment forecasting, human resources planning, performance management and staff development and training " .
٢٠٧ - حثت الجمعية العامة في الجزء سابعا من قرارها ٤٧/٢١٦ اللجنة " استكمالا للدراسات التي يجر الاضطلاع بها في مجال اﻷجور، على إيلاء اهتمام ماثل في برنامج عملها للتدابير الرامية إلى تعزيز اﻹدارة السليمة لشؤون الموظفين في الخدمة العامة الدولية، بما في ذلك التنبؤ باحتياجات التوظيف، وتخطيط الموارد البشرية، وتنظيم اﻷداء وتنمية قدرات الموظفين وتدريبهم " .

The Committee notes that the disposition of UNPF assets will be administered in accordance with the principles and policies governing the disposition of assets set out in paragraph 110 of the report of the Secretary-General on the administrative and budgetary aspects of peace-keeping operations (A/48/945 and Corr.1), which were endorsed by the General Assembly in section VII of its resolution 49/233 of 23 December 1994.

Concerning the use of retirees, the General Assembly, in section VII of its resolution 53/221, endorsed the observations and recommendations on their use (A/53/691) and requested the Secretary-General to have recourse to the employment of retirees only if the operational requirements of the Organization cannot be met by existing staff.
