The Working Group regards the elimination of discrimination in the family as central to women's capacity to participate in political and public life on equal terms with men and the withdrawal of these reservations as imperative.

5. Also calls upon States parties to adopt and implement appropriate measures to ensure that persons with disabilities can participate effectively and fully in political and public life on an equal basis with others, including by, inter alia:

34. For women to have the capacity to participate in political and public life on equal footing with men, including to build autonomous movements for their own empowerment, they must be able to exercise their rights to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, expression, movement and association.

(a) Ensure that persons with disabilities can effectively and fully participate in political and public life on an equal basis with others, directly or through freely chosen representatives, including the right and opportunity for persons with disabilities to vote and be elected, inter alia, by:

5- يهيب أيضاً بالدول الأطراف أن تعتمد وتنفذ التدابير المناسبة التي تضمن تمكّن الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة من المشاركة الفعالة الكاملة في الحياة السياسية والعامة على قدم المساواة مع الآخرين عن طريق جملة من الوسائل منها:

10. Encourages all relevant actors in the design of products, environments, programmes and services relating to participation in political and public life to pay due attention to universal design, which requires the consideration of the needs of all members of society in order to avoid the need for any subsequent adaptation or specialized design;
10- يشجّع جميع الجهات الفاعلة المعنية بتصميم المنتجات والبيئات والبرامج والخدمات المتعلقة بالمشاركة في الحياة السياسية والعامة على الاعتناء، على النحو الواجب، بالتصميمات العامة، ممّا يقتضي مراعاة احتياجات جميع أفراد المجتمع بغية تجنب الحاجة إلى تكييف هذه التصميمات أو إعادة تشكيلها على نحو يناسب الاحتياجات الخاصة في مرحلة لاحقة؛

It recommends that the State party establish concrete goals and timetables to accelerate women's equal participation in public and political life at all levels.
وهي توصي الدولة الطرف بأن تضع أهدافا وأطرا زمنية ملموسة لتعجيل مشاركة المرأة، على قدم المساواة مع الرجل، في الحياة السياسية والعامة على جميع المستويات.

The Committee also recommends that the State party increase its efforts in offering or supporting training programmes for current and future women leaders and carry out awareness-raising campaigns regarding the importance of women's participation in public and political life and at decision-making levels, as democratic requirement.
وتوصي اللجنة الدولة الطرف أيضا بأن تزيد من جهودها المبذولة في مجال تقديم أو دعم برامج تدريبية للقيادات النسائية الحالية أو في المستقبل، وأن تقوم بحملات للتوعية بأهمية مشاركة المرأة في الحياة السياسية والعامة على مستويات صنع القرارات، بوصف ذلك مطلبا ديمقراطيا.
