237. The campaigns carried out by the State and ILO have also contributed to alert society.

14. The present report refers to the efforts carried out by the State party to combating human trafficking.
14 - يشير التقرير الحالي إلى الجهود التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف من أجل مكافحة الاتجار بالبشر.

The main achievements that the State has made in its endeavours to promote equality between men and women are as follows:
وفيما يلي أهم الإنجازات التي قامت بها الدولة لتحقيق المساواة بين الرجل والمرأة:

Accordingly the tables showing the status of treaties will now indicate under the designation `Yemen'the date of the formalities (signatures, ratifications, accessions, declarations and reservations, etc.) effected by the State which first became a party, those eventually effected by the other being described in a footnote. وتبعا لذلك، يُشار من الآن فصاعدا في الجداول التي تبين حالة المعاهدات، تحت اسم " اليمن " ، إلى تاريخ الإجراءات (التوقيعات والتصديقات والانضمام والإعلانات والتحفظات وغيرها) التي قامت بها الدولة التي أصبحت طرفا فيها قبل الأخرى، في حين يشار، عند الاقتضاء، إلى تلك التي قامت بها الدولة التي أصبحت طرفا في المعاهدة في وقت لاحق في الحاشية " ().

The Committee notes the positive preventive initiatives taken by the State party, such as State oversight of the tourism industry.
20- تلاحظ اللجنة المبادرات الوقائية الإيجابية التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف، كمبادرة رقابة الدولة على قطاع السياحة.

The Committee welcomes the steps taken by the State party to seek accreditation of the High Committee on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms with the International Coordination Committee of National Human Rights Institutions and encourages it to ensure the independence of the High Committee in practice.
وترحِّب اللجنة بالخطوات التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف في سبيل تقديم طلب اعتماد الهيئة العليا لحقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية لدى لجنة التنسيق الدولية للمؤسسات الوطنية، وتشجِّع الدولة الطرف على احترام استقلالية الهيئة العليا المذكورة أعلاه احتراماً فعلياً.

98. Both the legal system and steps taken by the State and society have not been sufficient to prevent and punish the various forms of sexual aggression against women, boys and girls.
٨٩ - والنظام القانوني والخطوات التي قامت بها الدولة والمجتمع كلاهما لم يكن كافيا لمنع وعقاب مختلف أشكال الاعتداء الجنسي على النساء والصبيان والبنات.

Although the Committee welcomes the effort made by the State party to combat domestic violence, through the recent establishment of a National Plan on Domestic Violence, it is concerned at the persistence of violence against women in El Salvador.
ترحب اللجنة، مع التقدير، بالجهود التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف في مكافحة العنف المنـزلي مع قيامها مؤخرا بإنشاء خطة وطنية لمكافحة العنف المنـزلي، مع الشعور بالقلق إزاء استمرار العنف ضد المرأة في السلفادور.

10. Ms. EVATT proposed that the words “the decline in the number of acts of racism and xenophobic violence” should be replaced by the words “the efforts made by the State party to counter racism and xenophobia”.
٠١- السيدة إيفات اقترحت الاستعاضة عن عبارة " الانخفاض في عدد اﻷعمال العنصرية والعنف الناتج عن رهاب اﻷجانب " بعبارة " الجهود التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف لمجابهة العنصرية ورهاب اﻷجانب " .

In addition to the public activities carried out by the State for provision of information and awareness-raising, non-governmental organizations and the private sector are also involved in ongoing activities and campaigns particularly to combat violence against women.
وبالإضافة إلى الأنشطة العامة التي قامت بها الدولة لتقديم المعلومات وإثارة الوعي هناك أيضاً مشاركة من جانب المنظمات غير الحكومية والقطاع الخاص في الأنشطة والحملات الجارية وخاصة ما يتعلق منها بمكافحة العنف الموجَّه ضد المرأة.

15. The Committee appreciates the numerous dissemination and awareness-raising activities carried out by the State party in collaboration with international, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations on the issue of trafficking in human beings.
15- تقدّر اللجنة أنشطة النشر والتوعية العديدة التي قامت بها الدولة الطرف بالتعاون مع المنظمات الدولية والحكومية الدولية وغير الحكومية في مسألة الاتجار بالأشخاص.

391. The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea provides in article 139 that States parties to the Convention shall ensure that activities in the Area, whether carried out by the State or its nationals, are in conformity with the Convention.
391- وتنص اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار في مادتها 139 على أن تكفل الدول الأطـراف فـي الاتفاقيـة أن تكـون الأنشطة التي تجرى في " المنطقة " ، سواء قامت بها الدولة أو رعاياها، متمشية مـع الاتفاقية.
