The Family Fostering Act defines a juvenile as being any human being under 18 years of age who has not attained legal majority.
كما عرف قانون الحضانة العائلية الحدث بأنه كل إنسان لم يتجاوز ٨١ عاما ولم يبلغ سن الرشد.

It was observed that, in its article 1, the Convention on the Rights of the Child defines as a child every human being younger than eighteen years of age and that, in its article 37, it lays down a series of limitations as regards the applicable penalties, ruling out the death penalty and life imprisonment without parole.
ولوحظ أن اتفاقية حقوق الطفل تورد في مادتها رقم ١ تعريفا للطفل بوصفه كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة وتقر في مادتها ٣٧ سلسلة من التقييدات فيما يتعلق بالعقوبات السارية فتستبعد عقوبة اﻹعدام والسجن مدى الحياة دون إفراج مشروط.

10. " Child " is defined as in the Convention as " every human being below the age of eighteen years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier " .
10- " الطفل " ، حسب التعريف الوارد في الاتفاقية، هو " كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة، ما لم يبلغ سن الرشد قبل ذلك بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه " ().

Article 1 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as " every human being below the age of eighteen years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier, " and article 2 clarifies that Convention rights are to be enjoyed by children " without discrimination of any kind " , including on grounds of sex.
ويُعرَّف الطفل في المادة 1 من اتفاقية حقوق الطفل بأنه ' ' كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة، ما لم يبلغ سن الرشد قبل ذلك بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه``، كما توضح المادة 2 أن الأطفال يتمتعون بالحقوق الواردة في الاتفاقية ' ' دون تمييز من أي نوع``، بما في ذلك على أساس نوع الجنس.

9. A " child as defined in article 1 of the Convention " , means " every human being below the age of 18 years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier " .
9- تعني عبارة " الطفل حسب التعريف الوارد في المادة 1 من الاتفاقية " ، " كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة، ما لم يبلغ سن الرشد قبل ذلك بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه " .

10 - " الطفل " ، حسب التعريف الوارد في الاتفاقية، هو " كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة، ما لم يبلغ سن الرشد قبل ذلك بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه " ().

32. A juvenile is defined, in the penal laws set forth in the Detention and Juvenile Homes Statues of 1975, as every human being below the age of 18 years.
32- وعُرِّف الحدث في القوانين الجزائية المبينة في لائحة الاستيقاف ولائحة دور الأحداث الصادرة في عام 1395ه(1975 م) بأنه كل إنسان لم يبلغ الثامنة عشرة من العمر.

٧- يعني الطفل في مفهوم القانون المدني العراقي، كل إنسان لم يبلغ سن الثامنة عشرة من العمر، ويفصل قانون رعاية اﻷحداث المرقم ٦٧ لسنة ٣٨٩١ عمر الطفل وتسمياته على النحو اﻵتي:

٥٣- ويعرﱠف الطفل بأنه كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة.

It sets out a clear and easily understood definition of a child as any human being under 18 years of age.
وينص هذا القانون على تعريف واضح لمفهوم الطفل يمكن للجميع فهمه إذ يعتبر الطفل " كل إنسان لم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة من العمر " .

70. The Family Fostering Act No. 82 of 1977 defines a juvenile as any human being under 18 years of age who has not attained legal majority. In short, the definitions contained in all Kuwaiti laws are consistent with the definition set forth in article 1 of the Convention, as childhood is defined as the period from 7 to 18 years of age.
70- وعرف قانون الحضانة العائلية رقم 82 لسنة 1977 الحدث بأنه كل إنسان لم يتجاوز 18 عاماً ولم يبلغ سن الرشد وباستخلاص التعريفات يتبين أن جميع التشريعات الكويتية جاءت متفقة ومنسجمة مع تعريف المادة الأولى من الاتفاقية حيث جاء تحديد سن الطفولة من السابعة حتى الثامنة عشرة.

٣ - وتمشيا مع أحكام اتفاقية اﻷمم المتحدة لحقوق الطفل، يعتبر طفلا كل إنسان لم يتجاوز سنه الثامنة عشرة، ما لم يكن قد بلغ سن الرشد قبل ذلك بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه.
