To better support the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs in managing the Account, a steering committee at the level of deputies of the entities of the Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs will be established to improve coordination and policy guidance and to ensure that the Account funds projects that focus on priority issues on the United Nations development agenda.

20. Upon the completion of a project, and in line with performance indicators built into the project design, joint evaluation will be undertaken by the entities of the Executive Committee, based on which the Secretary-General will submit an annual report to the General Assembly.
٢٠ - وعند إتمام مشروع من المشاريع ووفقا لمؤشرات اﻷداء المدرجة في تصميم المشروع، تضطلع كيانات اللجنة التنفيذية بتقييم مشترك وعلى أساس هذا التقييم يقدم اﻷمين العام تقريرا سنويا إلى الجمعية العامة.

In this context, the current budget submission has benefited from mutual consultation among entities of the Executive Committee to enhance the orientation of their work programmes while avoiding duplications and overlapping.

In this regard, the Secretary-General is also of the view that the strategic planning capacity in the economic and social field needs to be strengthened in order to assist the entities of the Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs to build stronger collaboration and partnerships, including closer and more effective horizontal linkages to enhance support to Member States in pursuing the development agenda.

(c) In order to ensure effective coordination and policy guidance to the operational activities of the Department, emphasis was placed on integrated implementation of the outcomes of the United Nations global conferences, better integration of analytical and operational activities and improved collaboration among entities of the Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs and the United Nations Development Group.
