1. Implementation of the Declaration on the Right to Development by Governments

The panel discussion held on 29 November intended to raise awareness among those attending the Council session about the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development and recent developments in the right-to-development process.

With the commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development and at a time when the world was facing serious economic and food crises, it was increasingly important to ensure the right to development, without which peace and security in the world would not be possible and democracy would be mere fiction.
