The network has already heightened the profile of minority rights in the United Nations system, including in connection with the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Linguistic and Religious Minorities in 2012.

42. The Department also promoted the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities, adopted on 18 December 1992.

This year marked the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities.

1. Decides to convene, at its nineteenth session, a panel discussion to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities, with a particular focus on its implementation as well as on achievements, best practices and challenges in this regard;
1 - يقرر الدعوة إلى عقد حلقة نقاش في دورته التاسعة عشرة للاحتفال بالذكرى السنوية العشرين لإعلان حقوق الأشخاص المنتمين إلى أقليات قومية أو إثنية وإلى أقليات دينية ولغوية، مع التركيز بصفة خاصة على إعمال الإعلان، وكذلك على الانجازات وأفضل الممارسات والتحديات القائمة في هذا الصدد؛

Acknowledging that the United Nations has an important role to play with regard to the protection of the rights of persons belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities by, inter alia, taking due account of, and giving effect to, the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities,
وإذ يسلّم بأن للأمم المتحدة دوراً هاماً تؤديه في حماية حقوق الأشخاص المنتمين إلى أقليات قومية أو إثنية وإلى أقليات دينية ولغوية، بوسائل منها إيلاء الاعتبار الواجب لإعلان حقوق الأشخاص المنتمين إلى أقليات قومية أو إثنية وإلى أقليات دينية ولغوية وإنفاذه،

58. In its resolution 18/3, the Council decided to convene a panel discussion to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities with a particular focus on its implementation as well as on achievements, best practices and challenges in this regard.

12. Invites the Office of the High Commissioner, the independent expert and relevant United Nations agencies, within existing resources, as well as Member States, to explore possibilities for organizing activities to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities;

The visit allowed a unique opportunity for dialogue on implementation by Kazakhstan of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities (1992 Declaration on Minorities).
