Designates the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa, as focal point of the Year, in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Development Programme, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and other relevant bodies of the United Nations;

Decides to adopt the amendment to the Instrument for the Establishment of the Restructured Global Environment Facility by which the Global Environment Facility will be made available to serve as a financial mechanism for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa;
1 - يقرر اعتماد التعديل على صك إنشاء مرفق البيئة العالمية المعادة هيكلته الذي يقضي بأن يكون مرفق البيئة العالمية جاهزاً للعمل كآلية مالية لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر في البلدان التي تعاني من الجفاف الشديد و/أو التصحر، ولاسيما في إفريقيا؛

" 13. Welcomes the amendment to the Global Environment Facility Instrument, whereby the Facility shall be available to serve as a financial mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa, pursuant to article 20, paragraph 2 (b), and article 21 of the Convention;

1. Calls upon all Governments, particularly developed countries and the donor community, to enhance their financial support to the Global Mechanism to enable it to promote the effective implementation of the Convention to Combat Desertification;
