26. Subprogramme 1 is the main component of the Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries.

The Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries, ECA and the Africa Recovery Unit were assigned the responsibilities for, respectively, resource mobilization, follow-up and monitoring, and creation of global awareness.

The present arrangements for programme 45, Africa: critical economic situation, recovery and development, ensure a distinct identification of the activities and resources relating to the New Agenda in the United Nations programme budget and of the Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries within the Secretariat.
٥ - والترتيبات الحالية للبرنامج ٤٥، افريقيا: الحالة الاقتصادية الحرجة والانتعاش والتنمية، تكفل تحديدا واضحا لﻷنشطة والموارد المتصلة بالبرنامج الجديد في الميزانية البرنامجية لﻷمم المتحدة، ولمكتب المنسق الخاص لافريقيا وأقل البلدان نموا داخل اﻷمانة العامة.

39. The contents of information materials, in particular newsletters and pamphlets, produced during the 1992-1993 period by the Department of Public Information and the Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries (see para. 26 above) show a certain degree of overlapping.
٣٩ - يظهر قدر ما من التداخل بين محتويات المواد اﻹعلامية، ولا سيما الرسائل اﻹخبارية والكراسات، التي صدرت عــن إدارة شــؤون اﻹعلام ومكتب المنسق الخاص لافريقيا وأقل البلدان نموا في الفترة ١٩٩٢-١٩٩٣ )انظر الفقرة ٢٦ أعلاه(.

Upon inquiry, the Advisory Committee was informed that the functions of the D-2 post (Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries) for the extended period during which the incumbent had been deployed on a special mission, were being carried out by the Under-Secretary-General and the incumbent of the D-1 post assigned to that Office.
رابعا - ١٦ وأبلغت اللجنة الاستشارية، بناء على استفسار تقدمت به، بأن مهام الوظيفة مد - ٢ )المنسق الخاص لافريقيا وأقل البلدان نموا( للفترة الممدة التي أوفد أثناءها شاغل الوظيفة في بعثة خاصة، يضطلع بها حاليا وكيل اﻷمين العام وشاغل الوظيفة مد - ١ المسندة لذلك المكتب.
