Following the official announcement of the results of the recently concluded elections in Liberia, I am pleased to inform you of the successful completion of the electoral process, which constituted the final element of the revised schedule of implementation of the Abuja Agreement.

With this act, IECOM has formally completed the electoral process, the last item on the revised schedule of implementation of the Abuja Agreement under the ECOWAS Peace Plan for Liberia.

There have been significant achievements in the disarmament of fighters which, under the revised schedule of implementation of the Abuja Agreement, was to be completed by 31 January 1997.

In a letter dated 24 July 1997 addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/1997/581), the Secretary-General informed the Council of the successful completion of the electoral process in Liberia, which constituted the final element of the revised schedule on implementation of the Abuja Agreement (S/1995/742, annex).
٤ - وفي رسالة مؤرخة ٢٤ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٧ موجهة من اﻷمين العام إلى رئيس مجلس اﻷمن (S/1997/581)، أبلغ اﻷمين العام المجلس باستكمال العملية الانتخابية بنجاح في ليبريا وهي العملية التي شكلت العنصر النهائي في الجدول المنقح لتنفيذ اتفاق أبوجا )S/1995/742، المرفق(.

The electoral process and the installation of a democratically elected Government constituted the last item on the revised schedule of implementation of the Abuja Agreement (S/1995/742, annex) under the peace plan for Liberia of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
