The present report provides an overview of the various activities in the field of population that were carried out in the implementation of the World Population Plan of Action by 8 intergovernmental and 104 non-governmental organizations during the early 1990s.
يقــدم هذا التقرير استعراضا عاما لمختلف اﻷنشطة في ميدان السكان، التـــي اضطلعت بها ٨ منظمات حكومية دولية و ١٠٤ منظمة غير حكومية خلال السنوات اﻷولى من التسعينات تنفيذا لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان.

The national reports are expected to highlight the constraints encountered in the operational implementation of the World Population Plan of Action and subsequent international agreements on population issues.
ومن المتوقع للتقارير الوطنية أن تلقي مزيدا من الضوء على القيود التي تواجه عند التنفيذ التشغيلي لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان والاتفاقات الدولية اللاحقة المتصلة بالقضايا السكانية.

The explicit aim of the World Population Plan of Action is to help coordinate population trends and the trends of economic and social development (para. 1).

Estimates obtained on the basis of the data presented in the report have been used in the preparation of the report World Population Monitoring, 1993 and for the fourth quinquennial review and appraisal of the World Population Plan of Action.
والتقديرات المستنبطة بناء على البيانات الواردة في التقرير قد استخدمت في إعداد تقرير " رصد السكان على الصعيد العالمي، ١٩٩٣ " وكذلك عند الاضطلاع لرابع مرة بالاستعراض والتقييم، اللذين يتمان كل خمس سنوات، لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان.

The Commission was also informed that the draft report of the Secretary-General on the fourth review and appraisal of the World Population Plan of Action (A/CONF.171/PC/3) had been completed and would be discussed by the Preparatory Committee for the International Conference on Population and Development at its third session.
وأحيطت اللجنة علما بأن مشروع تقرير اﻷمين العام عن عملية الاستعراض والتقييم الرابعة لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان (A/CONF.171/PC/3) اكتملت وستناقشها اللجنة التحضيرية للمؤتمر الدولي المعني بالسكان في دورتها الثالثة.

The Economic and Social Council decided that the 1984 population conference should be devoted to the discussion of selected issues of the highest priority, with the aim of contributing to the process of review and appraisal of the World Population Plan of Action and to its further implementation. 93/ Inter-agency participation for preparing the report was provided through the ACC Ad Hoc Task Force for the Conference mentioned above.
٢٩٣ - وقرر المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي تكريس المؤتمر المعني بالسكان لعام ١٩٨٤ لبحث المسائل المختارة ذات اﻷولوية العليا بهدف اﻹسهام في عملية الاستعراض والتقييم لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان وفي تعزيز تنفيذها)٩٢(. وقد تمت المشاركة بين الوكالات في إعداد التقرير من خلال فرقة العمل المخصصة للمؤتمر المتقدمة الذكر والتابعة للجنة التنسيق اﻹدارية.

At the 453rd meeting, on 28 March 1994, the Commission was informed that the report of the Secretary-General on the fourth review and appraisal of the World Population Plan of Action (A/CONF.171/PC/3) was before it for information, but that discussion and action on that document would take place at the third session of the Preparatory Committee for the International Conference on Population and Development.
٢٢ - في الجلسة ٤٥٣، المعقودة في ٢٨ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٤، أخطرت اللجنة بأن تقرير اﻷمين العام عن الاستعراض والتقييم الرابع لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان (A/CONF.171/PC/3) معروض عليها للعلم، ولكن ستجرى مناقشة تلك الوثيقة واتخاذ إجراء بشأنها في الدورة الثالثة للجنة التحضيرية للمؤتمر الدولي المعني بالسكان والتنمية.

94. In its role as the substantive arm of the Conference, the Population Division, in consultation with UNFPA, is responsible for the preparation of the principal documents of the Conference - namely, the first draft of the negotiating document (provisionally called the Cairo programme of action on population, sustained economic growth and sustainable development) and the fourth review and appraisal of the World Population Plan of Action.
٩٤ - إن شعبة السكان مسؤولة، فيما تضطلع به من دور بوصفها الذراع التقني للمؤتمر، عن إعداد وثائق المؤتمر الرئيسية، بالتشاور مع صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة للسكان، وهذه الوثائق هي المشروع اﻷول للوثيقة التفاوضية )المسماة مؤقتا برنامج عمل القاهرة بشأن السكان، الزيادة السكانية المستمرة والتنمية المستدامة(، ورابع استعراض وتقييم لخطة العمل العالمية للسكان.
