18. Promulgated by Legislative Decree No. 101/96, the Basic Law of the State represents the constitutional framework of the Sultanate of Oman and defines the approach and principles of society, as well as the overall structure of the State and its system of governance.

73. Mr. Al-Shary (Oman) said that comprehensive development of the Sultanate of Oman had begun in 1970 when His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said had assumed power.

24. The proposed programme was designed to contribute to the achievement of relevant priorities of the UNICEF medium-term strategic plan, the Millennium Development Goals, the principles and standards of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the goals and targets of A World Fit for Children and the Seventh Five-Year Plan of the Sultanate of Oman.

In a note dated 31 May 2010, the Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations informed the Secretariat of the decision of its Government to present the candidature of Rafiah Suliman Al-Talei instead of that of Ahmed AlMukhaini for election to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

The Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations presents his compliments to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1373 (2001) concerning counter-terrorism and has the honour to transmit herewith the final report of the Sultanate of Oman to the Counter-Terrorism Committee, submitted pursuant to paragraph 6 of that resolution (see enclosure).

The Ministers warmly welcomed the generous contribution by the esteemed Government of the Sultanate of Oman of 1 Million US dollars to the South Summit Special Fund established by the First South Summit in order to assist the full implementation and follow-up of the outcome of the South Summits in accordance with paragraph 104 of Doha Plan of Action.
