While many agencies indicated that they had already begun to implement components of the recommendation, others called for a more broad-based approach that would more fully address the obstacles that were identified by both the Office of Internal Oversight Services in its report on the thematic evaluation of knowledge management networks in the pursuit of the goals of the Millennium Declaration and the present report.

371. At its 2nd meeting, on 14 August 2006, the Committee considered the report of OIOS on the thematic evaluation of knowledge management networks in the pursuit of the goals of the Millennium Declaration (E/AC.51/2006/2).

The view was expressed that the Department of Economic and Social Affairs should further promote knowledge-sharing in the report production process by implementing, inter alia, recommendation 3 made by the Office of Internal Oversight Services in its report on the thematic evaluation of knowledge management networks in the pursuit of the goals of the Millennium Declaration (see E/AC.51/2006/2, sect. 6B).
