132. The majority of the 3,151 reported cases of disappearance in Guatemala occurred between 1979 and 1986, mainly under the military regime and in the context of the Government's fight against the Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca (URNG).

102. The establishment of URNG as a political party deserves special attention.

226. The Mission recommends to the URNG General Command that it:

The General Command of URNG takes a positive view of the fact that the negotiating process for peace in our country has been renewed under circumstances of mutual trust between the parties.
