Demetrius Perricos, Acting Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC, introduced the report.
وعرض التقريرَ السيد دييمتريوس بيريكوس، الرئيس التنفيذي بالنيابة للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش.

It concluded that appropriate action should be taken once the Security Council has decided on the future mandate of UNMOVIC.
وخلصت الإدارة إلى أنه ينبغي اتخاذ الإجراءات المناسبة بمجرد أن يبت مجلس الأمن في الولاية المقبلة للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش.

At the informal consultations of the whole held on 6 March 2001, the members of the Council received a briefing by the Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC on the activities of the Commission.
وفي المشاورات غير الرسمية التي عقدها المجلس بكامل هيئته في 6 آذار/مارس 2001، تلقى أعضاء المجلس إحاطة من الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش بشأن أنشطة اللجنة.

On the same day the members of the Council were briefed by the Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) on its activity aimed at the professional training of UNMOVIC personnel and preparation for the Commission's future work.

Such failure will be reported to the Security Council by the Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC or by the Director General of IAEA.

36. The Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC was assisted in his tasks by the creation of the College of Commissioners, an advisory body consisting of 16 commissioners.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), Demetrius Perricos, briefed the members of the Security Council on 4 September on the work of UNMOVIC.
قـدم ديمتريـوس بريكوس القائم بأعمال الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش إحاطة إلى أعضاء مجلس الأمن في 4 أيلول/سبتمبر عن عمل اللجنة.

3. In the period under review, the Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC has continued to provide monthly briefings to the President of the Security Council.
3 - واصل الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش في الفترة المستعرضة في هذا التقرير تقديم إحاطات شهرية إلى رئيس مجلس الأمن.

Thus, while accountable to the Council for the performance of UNMOVIC, and reporting initially to it every three months, the Executive Chairman of the Commission may bring urgent matters pertaining to the Commission's mandate to the attention of the Council and ask for its guidance and support, when he deems it to be required.
وهكذا، في حين أن الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش مسؤول أمام المجلس عن أداء اللجنة، ويقدم إليه بداية تقريرا كل ثلاثة أشهر، يجوز للرئيس التنفيذي أن يوجه انتباه المجلس إلى المسائل العاجلة المتصلة بولاية اللجنة ويطلب منه التوجيه والدعم، عندما يرى أن الأمر يستدعي ذلك.

18. UNMOVIC. The Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC provided the following comment, which reads in relevant part:
18 - لجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش - قدم الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش التعليقات التالية، التي تنص في الجزء ذي الصلة على ما يلي:

Letter dated 10 March (S/2000/207) from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council, providing, after consultation with the Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC and the members of the Council, the names of the appointed Commissioners for UNMOVIC.
رسالة مؤرخة 10 آذار/مارس S/2000/207)) موجهة من الأمين العام إلى رئيس مجلس الأمن يقدم فيها، بعد التشاور مع الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة الأمم المتحدة للرصد والتحقق والتفتيش ومع أعضاء مجلس الأمن، أسماء الأعضاء المعينين في اللجنة.

In response to observations by other Council members, the sponsors inter alia indicated that they did not envisage any role for UNMOVIC at present and would report on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq at an appropriate time.

It was hoped that Iraq, in view of the return of inspectors from the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) and the return of the Kuwaiti national archives, would also adopt a well-intentioned approach to the humanitarian issue of the prisoners of war, detainees and missing persons.
