The Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions, which had been adopted at the recent General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), recognized that cultural goods and services had both an economic and a social value, and also recognized the important link between culture and development.
وأضافت أن الاتفاقية المتعلقة بحماية وتعزيز تنوع المضامين الثقافية، التي اعتمدت في المؤتمر العام الذي عقدته مؤخرا منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو)، تسلم بأن للسلع والخدمات الثقافية قيمة اقتصادية واجتماعية على حد سواء، كما تعترف بالصلة الهامة بين الثقافة والتنمية.
