At the Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa, for example, the Week was observed in 1994 in a joint venture with the United Nations Information Centre in Lomé, by making a tour through the important towns of Togo.

Along the same lines, given the numerous conflicts the OAU Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution will have to face and in light of the illicit trafficking in small arms and light weapons, it is important to strengthen the activities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa, headquartered in Togo.
وكذلك فإنه بالنظر الى الصراعات العديدة التي يتعين أن تواجهها آلية منظمة الوحدة الافريقية لمنع الصراعات وإدارتها وحلها، وفي ضوء الاتجار غير المشروع باﻷسلحة الصغيرة واﻷسلحة الخفيفة، من اﻷهمية بمكان تعزيز أنشطة مركز اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي للسلم ونزع السلاح في افريقيا الذي يتخذ من توغو مقرا له.

7. Further requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session, under the item entitled " Review and implementation of the Concluding Document of the Twelfth Special Session of the General Assembly " , on the activities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa, and on the implementation of the present resolution.
٧ - تطلب كذلك الى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم الى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين، في إطار البند المعنون " استعراض وتنفيذ وثيقة اختتام دورة الجمعية العامة الثانية عشرة " ، تقريرا عن أنشطة مركز اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي للسلم ونزع السلاح في افريقيا وعن تنفيذ هذا القرار.

5. Encourages the Secretary-General to continue his efforts in the context of the implementation of resolution 49/75 G to curb the illicit circulation of small arms and to collect such arms in the affected States which so request, with the support of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa and in close cooperation with the Organization of African Unity,

Turning to the draft resolution contained in A/C.1/50/L.24 on the United Nations Regional Centres for Peace and Disarmament in Africa and elsewhere, my delegation was saddened to hear the Secretary-General announce that the three Centres might be closed for lack of funds and that their operations will be directed from New York.

Congratulates the Secretary-General on his action within the context of the relevant provisions of resolution 40/151 H of 16 December 1985, and encourages him to continue his efforts to curb the illicit circulation of small arms and to ensure their collection in the affected States which so request, with the support of the United Nations Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa and in close cooperation with the Organization of African Unity;
٤ - تهنئ اﻷمين العام على اﻹجراءات التي اتخذها تنفيذا ﻷحكام القرار ٤٠/١٥١ حاء المؤرخ ١٦ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٨٥، وتشجعه على مواصلة جهوده الرامية إلى وقف التداول غير المشروع لﻷسلحة الخفيفة وجمعها في الدول المعنية، بناء على طلبها، وذلك بدعم من مركز اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي للسلم ونزع السلاح في افريقيا وبالتعاون الوثيق مع منظمة الوحدة الافريقية؛
