It covers the period from September 2007 to June 2009, and illustrates the situation of children affected by the armed conflict in Burundi since my previous report (S/2007/686) and the subsequent conclusions and recommendations of the Working Group on Children and armed conflict (S/AC.51/2008/6).

61. All relevant parties are called upon, as a matter of priority, to implement the recommendations of my first report on the situation of children and armed conflict in Sri Lanka (S/2006/1006) and the subsequent conclusions of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (S/AC.51/2007/9).

At the 9th meeting of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, held on 19 July 2007 in connection with the consideration of the report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Somalia (S/2007/259), the Chairman made the following statement on behalf of the Working Group:

My Special Representative on Children and Armed Conflict is requested to prepare a follow-up mission to Chad to ensure the implementation of my recommendations on the situation of children in Chad (S/2007/400), the subsequent conclusions of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (S/AC.51/2007/16) and the present report.
56 - ويُطلب إلى ممثلتي الخاصة المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح إعداد بعثة متابعة إلى تشاد لتكفل تنفيذ توصياتي بشأن حالة الأطفال في تشاد (S/2007/400)، والتوصيات اللاحقة للفريق العامل المعني بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح (S/AC.51/2007/16) وتوصيات هذا التقرير.

62. In follow-up to similar recommendations in country-specific reports of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Sudan and the Central African Republic and to subsequent conclusions of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, a cross-border coordination meeting to enhance child protection in LRA-affected countries was held in Nairobi in October 2009.

21. The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other members of the United Nations country team continue to collaborate in the implementation of key recommendations in my first report on the situation of children and armed conflict in Côte d'Ivoire (S/2006/835) and the subsequent conclusions and recommendations of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (S/AC.5/2007/7).

53. Beyond initial limited dialogue with the Government in relation to the action plan(s), progress has been made in a number of respects in follow-up to the recommendations in my first report (S/2007/666) and the subsequent conclusions of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (S/AC.51/2008/8), including significant steps by national authorities outlined in further detail below.
