1. Rule 4 of the provisional rules of procedure of the World Conference on Disaster Reduction provides that:

54. In support of preparations for the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in 2005, UNDP is working closely with the ISDR secretariat.

As a follow-up to the discussions held at the first session of the Preparatory Committee (6-7 May 2004, Geneva), the Conference Secretariat is convening the second session of the Preparatory Committee on 11-12 October 2004 in Geneva to discuss further organizational and substantive aspects of the WCDR.
وكمتابعة للمناقشات التي أجريت في الدورة الأولى للجنة التحضيرية (يومي 6 و7 أيار/مايو 2004 في جنيف)، ستعقد أمانة المؤتمر الدورة الثانية للجنة التحضيرية يومي 11 و12 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2004 في جنيف لمناقشة جوانب تنظيمية وموضوعية إضافية للمؤتمر العالمي المعني بالحد من الكوارث.
