With regard to the recently introduced electoral reform and its impact on Maori representation, the representative explained that the number of guaranteed Maori seats in Parliament under the new system had been increased from four to five and that the number of Maori seats would rise or fall depending on the number of Maori opting for enrolment in the Maori roll at the end of the Maori option period.
٤٢٩ - وفيما يتعلق باﻹصلاحات الانتخابية التي أدخلت مؤخرا واﻷثر الذي يترتب عليها فيما يتصل بتمثيل الماووري، أوضح الممثل أن عدد المقاعد المضمونة للماووري في البرلمان في إطار النظام الجديد قد زاد من أربعة إلى خمسة مقاعد وأن عدد مقاعد الماووري سيزيد أو ينقص إستنادا إلى عدد الماووري الذين يختارون تسجيل أنفسهم في سجل الماووري في نهاية فترة الاختيار للماووري.
