The work done by the twentieth meeting of the Latin American Council of SELA enabled the countries members of SELA to engage in the necessary reflection about the future of the Organization on its twentieth anniversary.

Regarding operative paragraphs 3 and 4, we note that the resolution urges the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the specialized agencies and other organizations, funds and programmes of the United Nations system to renew their contribution and to intensify their support for, and cooperation with, the Latin American Economic System.
فيما يتعلق بالفقرتين ٣ و ٤ من المنطوق، نلاحظ أن القرار يحث برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي والوكالات المتخصصة وغيرها من منــظمات وصناديق وبــرامج منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة على تجديد مساهماتها وتكثيف دعمها للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية وتعاونها معها.

4. Urges the specialized agencies and other organizations, funds and programmes of the United Nations system to continue and intensify their support for, and cooperation in the activities of, the Latin American Economic System;
٤ - تحث الوكالات المتخصصة وغيرها من مؤسسات وصناديق وبرامج منظومة اﻷمــم المتحدة على مواصلة وتكثيف دعمها للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية وتعاونها معها فيما تقوم به من أنشطة؛

4. Urges the specialized agencies and other organizations, funds and programmes of the United Nations system to continue and intensify their support for, and cooperation in the activities of, the Latin American Economic System;
٤ - تحث الوكالات المتخصصة وغيرها من مؤسسات وصناديق وبرامج منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة على مواصلة وتكثيف دعمها للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية وتعاونها معها فيما تقوم به من أنشطة؛

5. Requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Permanent Secretary of the Latin American Economic System to assess, at the appropriate time, the implementation of the Agreement between the United Nations and the Latin American Economic System and to report thereon to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session;
٥ - تطلب إلى كل من اﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة واﻷمين الدائم للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية أن يعمد، في الوقت المناسب، إلى تقييم تنفيذ الاتفاق المعقود بين اﻷمم المتحدة والمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية، وأن يقدم تقريرا عن ذلك إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين؛

The Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American Economic System trusts that this cooperation will be strengthened and broadened in order to support the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in our efforts to respond positively to the challenges of the globalization of the international economy and of achieving development with social equity.
إن اﻷمانة الدائمة للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية تثق بأن هذا التعاون سيتعزز ويتوسع نطاقه من أجل دعم بلدان أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي في جهودنا للرد اﻹيجابي على تحديات عولمة الاقتصاد العالمي وتحقيق التنمية التي تتسم باﻹنصاف الاجتماعي.

All of these activities, along with many others now being planned, serve as the background for the five major objectives set out by the Permanent Secretary of SELA to define and guide that body's activities in the coming years.
وتمثل جميع هذه اﻷنشطة، إلى جانب اﻷنشطة اﻷخـــرى التي يجـــري اﻹعـــداد لهـا، خلفية لﻷهداف الرئيسية الخمسة التي وضعها اﻷمين الدائـم للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية من أجـــل تحديــد وتوجيه أنشطتها في السنوات المقبلة.

In this regard, the current Permanent Secretary of SELA made the very pertinent assessment that, together with the adoption of effective measures of international cooperation aimed at fulfilling the commitments undertaken at the Social Summit:
وفي هذا الشأن، قدم اﻷمين الدائم الحالي للمنظومة الاقتصادية ﻷمريكا اللاتينية تقييما وثيق الصلة جدا بالموضوع مفاده أنه، إلى جانب اعتماد تدابير فعالة للتعاون الدولي ترمي إلى الوفاء بالالتزامات التي قطعت في القمة الاجتماعية:

I also wish to thank SELA's former representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Oscar de Rojas, and to welcome his successor, Mr. Allan Wagner.
