I have the honour to forward herewith the annual report of the Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, which has been agreed by the members of the Working Group.

Besides the public meetings on the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, marking East Timor's independence, and recommending East Timor's admission to membership in the United Nations; significant public meetings were also held on children and armed conflict, the report of the Council mission to the Great Lakes region, and Afghanistan.
وإلى جانب الاجتماعات العلنية بشأن الفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها والاحتفال باستقلال تيمور الشرقية والإيصاء بقبول عضوية تيمور الشرقية في الأمم المتحدة، عُقدت أيضا اجتماعات علنية هامة بشأن الأطفال والصراعات المسلحة وتقرير بعثة المجلس لمنطقة البحيرات الكبرى، وأفغانستان.

1. The Ad Hoc Working Group of the Security Council on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa was established by the Note of the President of the Security Council S/2002/207 dated 1 March 2002 with the following mandate:
1 - أُنشئ الفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها بموجب مذكرة رئيس مجلس الأمن S/2002/207 المؤرخة 1 آذار/مارس 2002 وأُوكلت إليه الولاية التالية:

The Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa will hold an open meeting on the item entitled " An effective global conflict prevention strategy in Africa, the role of the Security Council " .
يعقد الفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها التابع لمجلس الأمن اجتماعا مفتوحا بشأن البند المعنون " وضع استراتيجية عالمية فعالة لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا، دور مجلس الأمن " .

Note by the President of the Security Council dated 30 December (S/2005/833), transmitting the annual report for 2005 of the Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa.
مذكرة من رئيس مجلس الأمن مؤرخة 30 كانون الأول/ديسمبر (S/2005/833)، يحيل بها التقرير السنوي للفريق العامل التابع لمجلس الأمن والمخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها لعام 2005.

I have the honour to transmit a letter dated 30 December 2005 from the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa to the President of the Security Council, forwarding the annual report of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa in 2005 (see annex).
يشرفني أن أحيل الرسالة المؤرخة 30 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2005 الموجهة إلى رئيس مجلس الأمن من رئيس الفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها، التي يحيل بها التقرير السنوي للفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها. (انظر المرفق).

The Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa will hold a seminar (open) on the item entitled " An effective global conflict prevention strategy in Africa, the role of the Security Council " .
يعقد الفريق العامل المخصص لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا وحلّها التابع لمجلس الأمن حلقة دراسية (مفتوحة) بشأن البند المعنون " وضع استراتيجية عالمية فعالة لمنع نشوب الصراعات في أفريقيا، دور مجلس الأمن " .
