The meeting adopted the Vientiane Plan of Action, which contains specific and action-oriented measures designed to improve both physical and non-physical aspects of the transit transport systems of South-East Asia.

(ب) تحديد السياسات الدولية والإقليمية ودون الإقليمية والوطنية الفعالة في مجال التعاون التجاري والتعاون في مجال النقل العابر على النطاق الدولي، واستعراض الحالة الراهنة لنظم النقل العابر في ضوء التحديات الجديدة والناشئة، والشراكات والفرص والوسائل اللازمة للتصدي لها.

(b) To identify effective international, regional, subregional and national policies in the area of international trade and transit transport cooperation and to review the current situation of transit transport systems in the light of new and emerging challenges, partnerships and opportunities and the means to address them;

(b) To identify effective international, regional, subregional and domestic policies in the area of international trade and transit transport cooperation and to review the current situation of transit transport systems in the light of new and emerging challenges, partnerships and opportunities and the means to address them;
(ب) تحديد السياسات الفعالة على الصعد الدولي والإقليمي ودون الإقليمي والمحلي المتعلقة بالتجارة الدولية والتعاون في مجال النقل العابر واستعراض الحالة الراهنة لنظم النقل العابر في ضوء التحديات والشراكات والفرص الجديدة والناشئة والوسائل اللازمة لمواجهتها؛

6. For the Asian regional preparations, the secretariat of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) undertook a series of case studies on subregional transit transport systems to substantiate four subregional meetings in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Nepal.

It has also commissioned four case studies on recent developments of transit transport systems in South-East Asia, South Asia, Latin America and southern and eastern Africa, as well as a study entitled " Infrastructure development in landlocked and transit developing countries: foreign aid, private investment and the transport cost burden on landlocked developing countries " .
