That would also allow an opportunity to learn from the practical experience of the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and possibly of the tribunal to be established for Rwanda; his delegation hoped that representatives of those tribunals would be associated with the Committee's inter-sessional work.

Mr. FERRARIN (Italy), speaking on behalf of the European Union, said that the high vacancy rate of the Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda had led to an underestimation of the actual costs of those tribunals when fully staffed.
