5. At the 44th meeting, on 28 July, the Vice-President of the Council, Alfonso Valdivieso (Colombia), introduced the draft agreed conclusions (E/1999/L.38) on the development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development.

As you know, the Economic and Social Council devoted the coordination segment of its substantive session of 1999 to the development of Africa, and adopted a set of agreed conclusions entitled “Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development”.
الاقتصادي والاجتماعي كما تعلمون، كرس المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي الجزء المتعلق بالتنسيق من دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٩ للتنمية في أفريقيا، واعتمد مجموعة من الاستنتاجات المتفق عليها بعنوان " تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة " .

In accordance with Council decision 1998/298, the coordination segment will be devoted to the consideration of the following cross-sectoral theme: “Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development”.
وفقا لمقرر المجلس ١٩٩٨/٢٩٨ سوف يكرس الجزء المتعلق بالتنسيق للموضوع التالي الشامل للقطاعات: التنمية في أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة.

(a) Report of the Secretary-General on development in Africa: implementation of the recommendations in the report of the Secretary-General to the Security Council and the General Assembly, specifically the implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on Africa (A/54/133-E/1999/79);
)أ( تقرير اﻷمين العام عن تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ التوصيات الواردة في تقرير اﻷمين العام إلى مجلس اﻷمن والجمعية العامة، لا سيما تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بأفريقيا والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة )A/54/133-E/1999/79(؛

7. Also at the 44th meeting, on 28 July, the Vice-President of the Council, Alfonso Valdivieso (Colombia), introduced a draft decision (E/1999/L.39) entitled “Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development”, submitted on the basis of informal consultations.
٧ - وفي الجلسة ٤٤ أيضا، المعقودة في ٢٨ تموز/يوليه، عرض نائب رئيس المجلس، السيد الفونصو بالديبييو )كولومبيا( مشروع مقرر (E/1999/L.39)، عنوانه " تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة " ، قدم على أساس مشاورات غير رسمية.

The Council further decided that the coordination segment of its 1999 substantive session would be devoted to the consideration of the theme: “Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development” (decision 1998/298).
وقرر المجلس كذلك، أن يُكرس الجزء التنسيقي من دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٩ للنظر في موضوع: " تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة " )المقرر ١٩٩٨/٢٩٨(.

1. At its substantive session, the Council held a discussion on coordination of the policies and activities of the specialized agencies and other bodies of the United Nations system related to the following theme: Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development (agenda item 4) at its 29th to 32nd and 44th meetings, on 16, 19, 20 and 28 July 1999.
١ - أجرى المجلس في دورته الموضوعية مناقشة بشأن تنسيق سياسات وأنشطة الوكالات المتخصصة وغيرها من هيئات منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة فيما يتعلق بالموضوع التالي: تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة )البند ٤ من جدول اﻷعمال(، وذلك في جلساته ٢٩ إلى ٣٢ و ٤٤ المعقودة في ١٦ و ١٩ و ٢٠ و ٢٨ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٩.

At its 44th plenary meeting, on 28 July 1999, the Economic and Social Council, having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the theme “Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development”, A/54/133-E/1999/79.
إن المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، بعد أن نظر في جلسته العامة ٤٤ المعقودة في ٢٨ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٩ في تقرير اﻷمين العام عن موضوع " تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية اﻷفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة " )٢٤٦(، وبعد أن أحاط علما بقرار الجمعية العامة ٥٣/٩٢ )٢٤٥( E/1999/109. )٢٤٦( A/54/133-E/1999/79.
