Resolution 56/16 was adopted shortly after ECOWAS and UNODC had jointly published Transnational Organized Crime in West Africa: A Threat Assessment on 25 February 2013, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on the margins of the ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council meeting that preceded the forty-second ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS.

At the forty-fourth ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held in Yamoussoukro on 28 and 29 March, the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, was elected to succeed the President of Côte d'Ivoire as Chair of the Authority.

39. On 6 May, my Special Representative travelled to Accra to meet with President Mahama, following his election as the new Chair of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS at the 44th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS held in Yamoussoukro on 28 and 29 March.

The forty-sixth ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was held on 15 December 2014, in Abuja, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Ghana and current Chairman of the Authority, His Excellency Mr. John Dramani Mahama.
١ - عُقدت الدورة العادية السادسة والأربعون لهيئة رؤساء دول وحكومات الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا في أبوجا، يوم 15 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2014، برئاسة فخامة السيد جون دراماني ماهاما، رئيس جمهورية غانا والرئيس الحالي للهيئة.

He attended the forty-second ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS on 27 and 28 February, during which he addressed a closed-door session on his views on the transition and the situation in Guinea-Bissau.
وحضر الدورة العادية الثانية والأربعين لهيئة رؤساء دول وحكومات الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا يومي 27 و 28 شباط/فبراير، ووجه خلاله كلمة في جلسة مغلقة أعرب فيها عن آرائه بشأن المرحلة الانتقالية والحالة في غينيا - بيساو.

36. On 25 October, the strategy was adopted by the Heads of State of the Union, meeting on the margins of the extraordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, held in Dakar.

23. President Ouattara, in his capacity as Chair of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), continued to engage actively in efforts to establish regional early warning and response mechanisms, among other things.
23 - واصل الرئيس واتارا، بصفته رئيسا لهيئة رؤساء دول وحكومات الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، مشاركته النشطة في الجهود الرامية إلى تحقيق جملة أمور، منها إنشاء آليات للإنذار المبكر والاستجابة على الصعيد الإقليمي.

20. Since his election as the Chair of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on 17 February, President Ouattara has played an active role in responding to the crises in Mali and Guinea-Bissau following unconstitutional changes of government in those countries on 22 March and 12 April, respectively.
20 - ويضطلع الرئيس واتارا، منذ انتخابه رئيسا لهيئة رؤساء دول وحكومات الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا في 17 شباط/فبراير، بدور نشط في الاستجابة للأزمتين في مالي وغينيا - بيساو، في أعقاب التغييرات غير الدستورية للحكومة في هذين البلدين يومي 22 آذار/مارس و 12 نيسان/أبريل، على التوالي.

25. On 10 July, President Vaz, along with the new Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Defence, attended the 45th ordinary session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra.

49. In addition to good offices activities undertaken jointly with ECOWAS during the period under review, my Special Representative participated in the thirty-ninth ordinary session of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, which was held on 23 and 24 March 2011 in Abuja.
