وأشارت وفود عديدة إلى أنه من الضروري، على الصعيد الوطني، أن تُصقل الاستراتيجيات، وأن توضع منظورات أكثر وضوحا في مجال السياسة العامة من أجل التنفيذ الفعال لنتائج مؤتمرات القمة الرئيسية المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة.

The objective of the Conference is to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess the progress to date and remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of major summits on sustainable development, and address new and emerging challenges.
ويتمثل هدف المؤتمر في تأمين الالتزام السياسي المتجدد بتحقيق التنمية المستدامة وتقييم التقدم المحرز حتى الآن والثغرات المتبقية في تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمرات القمة الرئيسية المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة والتصدي للتحديات الجديدة والناشئة.

Assessing the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development in our view, would show the failures and how to move forward without making the same mistakes again in dealing with not only the old challenges but also the new and emerging ones.

Further recalling the objective of the Conference, which is to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assessing the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development, and addressing new and emerging challenges,
وإذ يذكِّر كذلك بهدف المؤتمر ألا وهو تأمين الالتزام السياسي المتجدد بالتنمية المستدامة وتقييم التقدم المحرز حتى الآن والتغيرات المتبقية في تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمرات القمة الرئيسية المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة والتصدي للتحديات الجديدة والناشئة،

(a) Pursuing sustainable development, in accordance with the principles contained in the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, including the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, and taking into account the respective capabilities of countries, with a view to effectively implementing the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development and addressing new and emerging challenges;
(أ) مواصلة السعي إلى تحقيق التنمية المستدامة وفقا للمبادئ الواردة في إعلان ريو بشأن البيئة والتنمية()، بما فيها مبدأ المسؤوليات المشتركة ولكن المتباينة، ومع مراعاة قدرات كل من البلدان، بهدف تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمرات القمة الرئيسية المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة والتصدي للتحديات الجديدة والناشئة؛

It pays particular attention to the General Assembly's decision, in resolution 64/236, to convene the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, with the objective of securing " renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assessing the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development, and addressing new and emerging challenges " .
ويولي اهتماما خاصا لقرار الجمعية العامة في قرارها 64/236 الدعوة إلى عقد مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة، وذلك بهدف تأمين الالتزام السياسي المتجدد لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، وتقييم التقدم المحرز حتى الآن والثغرات المتبقية في تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمرات القمة الرئيسية المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة والتصدي للتحديات الجديدة والناشئة.

37. At the 1st meeting, on 7 March, the Committee held an interactive discussion on the objective of the Conference, which would be to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assessing the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development and addressing new and emerging challenges, under the chairmanship of the Co-Chair (Antigua and Barbuda).
