" 1. For the purposes of this Convention, " victim " means the disappeared person and any individual who has suffered harm as the direct result of an enforced disappearance.
" 1- لأغراض هذه الاتفاقية، يقصد ب " الضحية " الشخص المختفي وكل شخص طبيعي لحق به ضرر مباشر من جراء هذا الاختفاء القسري.

Article 24, paragraph 1, of the International Convention explicitly includes in the definition of " victim " of enforced disappearances not only the disappeared person, but also any individual who has suffered harm as the direct result of an enforced disappearance. "
29- والفقرة 1 من المادة 24 من الاتفاقية الدولية تبين صراحةً أن المقصود بتعريف " ضحية " الاختفاء القسري ليس الشخص المختفي فحسب، بل كل شخص لحق به ضرر مباشر من جراء هذا الاختفاء القسري " .

Taking into account the definition in article 24, paragraph 1, which stresses that " for the purpose of this Convention, `victim'means the disappeared person and any individual who has suffered harm as the direct result of an enforced disappearance " ,
وإذ تأخذ في الاعتبار التعريف الوارد في الفقرة 1 من المادة 24 التي تشدد على أنه " لأغراض هذه الاتفاقية، يقصد ب`الضحية` الشخص المختفي وكل شخص طبيعي لحق به ضرر مباشر من جراء هذا الاختفاء القسري " ،

143. Accordingly, adoption of the definition contained in article 24, paragraph 1 ( " For the purposes of this Convention, `victim'means the disappeared person and any individual who has suffered harm as the direct result of an enforced disappearance " ), will necessitate consideration of the amendment of the Iraqi legal system in regard to criminal acts of enforced disappearance.
143- وعلى هذا الأساس فان الأخذ بالتعريف الوارد في المادة 24/1 " لأغراض هذه الاتفاقية، يقصد ﺑ `الضحية` الشخص المختفي وكل شخص طبيعي لحق به ضرر مباشر من جراء هذا الاختفاء القسري " يقتضي البحث في تعديل منظومة التشريعات العراقية ذات العلاقة بجريمة الاختفاء القسري.
