The Office engages in high-level advocacy, including through field missions to specific situations of concern, reports to the General Assembly, prepares the annual report of the Secretary-General to the Security Council on children and armed conflict and is a key player, with UNICEF and United Nations country teams, in the monitoring and reporting mechanism established under Security Council resolution 1612 (2005).
