In organizing this important meeting of the General Assembly on the question of Palestine, I think we should remember the poetic song of Mahmoud Darwish:
وفي معرض تنظيم هذه الجلسة الهامة للجمعية العامة بشأن قضية فلسطين، أعتقد أنه يجدر بنا أن نتذكر قصيدة محمود درويش:

The second, entitled Mahmoud Darwish: As the Land is the Language, describes how the best known Palestinian poet, Mahmoud Darwish, portrays the injuries to and the heritage of his people.
والثاني، عنوانه " محمود درويش: عندما تكون الأرض هي اللغة " ، ويصف كيف أن أكثر الشعراء الفلسطينيين شهرة، محمود درويش، يصور الأضرار التي لحقت بشعبه وتراثه.

Mahmoud Darwish said,

I would like to conclude by quoting the words of Mahmud Darwish in his memorable poem " On This Earth " :
وأود أن أنتهي بصوت محمود درويش في قصيدته المشهورة: فوق هذه الأرض:

344. On 16 September 1994, it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin had denied Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish access to Nazareth to participate in the cultural festival that was soon to be held there.

My people want to exercise their right to enjoy a normal life like the rest of humankind. They believe in what our great poet Mahmoud Darwish said: " Standing here, staying here, permanent here, eternal here, and we have one goal, one goal, one goal ─ to be.
إن شعبي يريد ممارسة حقه في التمتع بوقائع حياة عادية كغيره من أبناء البشر، وهو يؤمن بما قاله شاعرنا الكبير محمود درويش: " واقفون هنا، قاعدون هنا، دائمون هنا، خالدون هنا، ولنا هدف واحد.. واحد.. واحد..

4. Upon learning of the passing of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish on 9 August 2008, the Chairman had sent a letter to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas expressing the heartfelt condolences of the Committee to Mr. Darwish's family and to the Palestinian people.
4 - ومضى رئيس اللجنة يقول إنه عندما علم بوفاة الشاعر الفلسطيني محمود درويش في 9 آب/أغسطس 2008، بعث برسالة إلى الرئيس محمود عباس رئيس السلطة الفلسطينية أعرب فيها عن المواساة القلبية للجنة لأُسرة الراحل محمود درويش وللشعب الفلسطيني.

Also in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People has arranged the screening of the films entitled " Yoom ilak, Yoom aleik: Palestinian Refugees from Jerusalem, 1948: Heritage, Eviction and Hope " , and " Mahmoud Darwish: As The Land is The Language. "
عرض أفلام احتفالا باليوم الدولي للتضامن مع الشعب الفلسطيني، قامت اللجنة المعنية بممارسة الشعب الفلسطيني لحقوقه غير القابلة للتصرف بترتيب عرض فيلمين معنونين: " يوم لك ويوم عليك: لاجئون فلسطينيون من القدس، ١٩٤٨: تراث، وإبعــاد، وأمل، " " محمود درويش: كاﻷرض تكون اللغة " .

Drafted by the poetic hand of my late friend, Mahmoud Darwish, the text is nothing short of visionary. Whereas previously the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) had campaigned for a single, secular, and democratic state across the entirety of mandatory Palestine, our Declaration of Independence endorsed a two-state solution.
إن انتصار أوباما الانتخابي يأتي في لحظة رمزية في التاريخ الفلسطيني. إذ أن هذا الشهر يصادف الذكرى السنوية العشرين لإعلان الاستقلال الفلسطيني، الذي صاغته القريحة الشعرية لصديقي الراحل محمود درويش ، فجاء نصه عامراً بالرؤى. فبعد أن كانت منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية تنادي فيما سبق بدولة واحدة علمانية ديمقراطية على كامل أرض فلسطين أيام كانت تحت الانتداب، جاء إعلان الاستقلال ليتبنى الحل القائم على دولتين.
