Golan Heights 40. The Special Committee regrets that it was again unable, notwithstanding its request to the Government of Israel, to visit the occupied Syrian Golan Heights to directly investigate the human rights situation there.

4. With respect to resolution 57/112, adopted by the General Assembly at its fifty-seventh session, on 3 December 2002, Switzerland believes that any comprehensive settlement of the problems in the Middle East must include an adequate solution under international law to the problem of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
4 - وفيما يتعلق بالقرار 57/112 الذي اعتمدته الجمعية العامة في دورتها السابعة والخمسين، في 3 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2002، ترى سويسرا أن أي تسوية شاملة للمشاكل في الشرق الأوسط ينبغي أن تتضمن حلا ملائما بموجب القانون الدولي لمشكلة مرتفعات الجولان السورية المحتلة.

41. Activists complained that Israel persists in denying Syrian families the right to visit their family members elsewhere in the Syrian Arab Republic, while such family members are completely barred from visiting them in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
41 - واشتكى نشطاء من أن إسرائيل لا تزال تحرم الأسر السورية من الحق في زيارة أفراد عائلاتها الموجودين في أماكن أخرى في الجمهورية العربية السورية، في حين يُمنع أفراد الأسرة منعاً تاماً من زيارتهم في مرتفعات الجولان السورية المحتلة.

63. The Special Committee reiterates its call for the Government of Israel to allow visits for Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights with family members elsewhere in the Syrian Arab Republic, and to allow such family members to visit their loved ones in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
63 - وتكرر اللجنة الخاصة دعوتها إلى حكومة إسرائيل للسماح للسوريين في مرتفعات الجولان السورية المحتلة بزيارة ذويهم في أماكن أخرى في الجمهورية العربية السورية، والسماح لأفراد الأسر هؤلاء بزيارة أحبائهم في مرتفعات الجولان السورية المحتلة.

84. Mr. Obeid (Syrian Arab Republic), speaking in exercise of the right of reply, said that while the representative of Israel accused others of terrorism, he ignored the most heinous form of terrorism, State terrorism, which Israel had practised in all its forms for years, against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

Israel was continuing its annexation of the Syrian Golan, in violation of Security Council resolution 497 (1981), which decided that the Israeli decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights was null and void and without international legal effect.
38 - وتواصل إسرائيل ضمها للجولان السوري، انتهاكا لقرار مجلس الأمن 497 (1981) الذي قرر أن قرار إسرائيل فرض قوانينها وولايتها القضائية وإدارتها في مرتفعات الجولان السورية المحتلة قرار لاغ، وليس له أي أثر قانوني دولي.

The Syrian authorities reported that students from the occupied Golan Heights are prevented from completing their university education or gaining entry to particular faculties in Israeli institutions unless they accept Israeli nationality.
