Two regional commissions have subregional offices that facilitate coordination: the Pacific Operations Centre of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

In the Pacific, the Pacific Operations Centre of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific has also begun to set up a Regional Monitoring Information System for Pacific small island developing States, based in Vanuatu, which will be designed to improve the collection, storage and retrieval of data on social, economic, environmental and other developments.

٥ - تشجيع إقامة صلة، خصوصا من خلال مركز عمليات المحيط الهادئ التابع للجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، مع الوكالات اﻹنمائية والمؤسسات المالية، ومنظمات القطاع الخاص، والمنظمات غير الحكومية، والبلدان المانحة، داخل وخارج المنطقة، فيما تقوم به من مبادرات وأنشطة لصالح البلدان الجزرية النامية في المحيط الهادئ.

In addition, the Pacific Operations Centre of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), which is headquartered in Port-Vila, Vanuatu, would be well placed to complement the activities of the Suva regional office of UNFPA, in coordination with United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and other actors within the United Nations system.

18.84 Substantive responsibility for this subprogramme is vested in the ESCAP subregional offices for the Pacific, East and North-East Asia, North and Central Asia, and South and South-West Asia, in cooperation with the concerned divisions at ESCAP headquarters.
