The Special Rapporteur visited two countries neighbouring the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea (27-31 October 2008) and Japan (23-28 January 2009), to gather information on the human rights situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from a variety of Government, civil society and other interlocutors.
