Articles 9 to 11 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child stipulate that all children have the right to maintain regular personal relations with both parents.

The Committee welcomes the proposed changes to the Marriage and Family Relations Act, outlined in the State party's written replies to the list of issues, but is concerned that the right of a child who has been separated from one of his or her parents to maintain regular contact with both parents and other relatives is not sufficiently protected under current legislation.
