13. At its forty-first session, held from 30 June to 18 July 2008, in its concluding observations to the report of Finland (CEDAW/C/FIN/CO/6), the Committee noted the lack of statistics on the participation of minority women in political and public life and in academia, and encouraged Finland to be proactive in its measures to prevent discrimination against Romani women.

14. In its concluding observations on the report of Slovakia, the Committee noted with concern, with respect to article 27, that no steps had yet been taken to adopt legislation to implement the provisions of the Constitution on the use of minority languages, and that as a consequence the use of minority languages in official communications had not been secured.

10. In its concluding observations on the report of the United States of America, the Committee was concerned about the restriction of access of indigenous peoples to sacred areas that are essential for the preservation of their religious, cultural and spiritual practices and the insufficiency of consultation with indigenous peoples on matters of interest to their communities.

13. In its concluding observations on the report of El Salvador, the Committee welcomed the constitutional reform approved by the Congress which provided for legal recognition of indigenous peoples, but expressed concern at the lack of knowledge of the number of indigenous persons in the country.

50. In its concluding observations on the report of Lithuania (CERD/C/LTU/CO/4-5), the Committee recommended that the State party strengthen its policies and programmes for the integration of minority groups, in particular the integration of Roma into Lithuanian society.

13. In its concluding observations on the report of India (CCPR/C/60/IND/3), the Committee noted with concern that discrimination against members of the underprivileged classes and castes and other minorities constituted an impediment to the implementation of the Covenant, including article 27.

16. In its concluding observations on the report of Colombia (CCPR/C/79/Add.76), the Committee noted that members of indigenous communities and of the black minority continued to suffer discrimination and that they did not fully enjoy their rights provided for in article 27 of the Covenant.

17. In its concluding observations on the report of Georgia (CCPR/C/79/Add.75), the Committee welcomed Georgia's efforts to afford more active protection for the human rights of minorities with a view to guaranteeing them the free expression of their cultures and use of their languages.

20. In its concluding observations on the report of Zimbabwe (E/C.12/1/Add.12), the Committee noted that de jure non-discrimination and protection of the cultural rights of minorities should be ensured, and urged that particular attention be paid to the cultural situation and the participation of minority groups in cultural life.

The Committee on the Rights of the Child, in its concluding comments on the report of Yugoslavia, had expressed concern at the " progressive exclusion of teaching in languages other than Serbian, such as Bulgarian " .

10. At its seventy-third session, held from 28 July to 15 August 2008, in its concluding observations to the report of Ecuador (CERD/C/ECU/CO/18), while it took note of a ministerial decision guaranteeing the Romani people the right to free association for peaceful purposes, the Committee expressed concern at the constitutional failure to grant legal recognition to the Romani people as an ethnic minority.
