The Non-Aligned Movement underlines that the establishment of nuclear-weapon-free zones created by the relevant nuclear-weapon-free-zone treaties, as well as Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status, are positive steps and important measures towards the strengthening of global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

As a follow-up to its declaration the Parliament of Mongolia adopted in February 2000 a law on Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status thus institutionalizing it at the national level.
