Member States needed to work harder to make greater progress on financial reform, while the Secretariat should further improve its rules, regulations and systems, reinforce financial discipline and make effective use of every penny of Member States' contributions.

The General Conference approved an amount of Euro133,689,800 for the regular budget for the biennium 2002-2003 (GC.9/Dec.17) to be financed from contributions by Member States.
وافــق المؤتــمر العام على تخصيص مبلــغ 800 689 133 يــورو للميزانية العادية لفتــرة السنتين 2002-2003 (م ع-9/ م-17) يمول من اشتراكات الدول الأعضاء.

The General Conference approved an amount of Euro142,000,000 for the regular budget for the biennium 2004-2005 (GC.10/Dec.17) to be financed from contributions by Member States, one half of which Euro71,000,000 was assessed to Member States for 2004, in accordance with financial regulation 5.1(c).

Therefore, the regular budget should reflect Member States' capacity to pay and the Secretariat should strengthen budgetary management, enforce financial discipline and make effective use of every penny of Member States' contributions.

145. United Nations organizations are mostly financed through contributions from Member States.

The income generated by the sale of publications was credited to one of the budget income sections and was eventually deducted from the contributions of Member States.
