In addition, expenditures for common staff costs were also considerably less than the standard costs because of the large number of mission appointees. This was indicated in paragraph 4 of annex II of the report of the Secretary-General of 21 December 1998 containing the UNMIBH performance report for the period from 1 July 1997 to 30 June 1998 (A/53/764).
