The Council further postponed the election of two members from African States, two members from Asian States, two members from Eastern European States and one member from Western European and other States for a three-year term beginning on 1 January 2007.
وأرجأ المجلس كذلك انتخاب عضوين من دول أفريقيا وعضوين من دول آسيا وعضوين من دول أوروبا الشرقية وعضو واحد من دول أوروبا الغربية ودول أخرى، وذلك لفترة ثلاث سنوات تبدأ في 1 كانون الثاني/يناير 2007.

i The Council postponed the election of one member from African States for a three-year term beginning on 1 January 2006 (decision 2005/201 C).
(ط) أرجأ المجلس انتخاب عضو واحد من دول أفريقيا لولاية مدتها ثلاث سنوات تبدأ في 1 كانون الثاني/يناير 2006 (المقرر 2005/201 جيم).

The Commission was further informed that during that period the Secretariat had faced problems with last-minute cancellation of internships by candidates from developing countries and difficulties in finding on the roster eligible and qualified candidates from African States and Latin American and Caribbean States, as well as candidates with Arabic language skills.

The Assembly was further reminded that at the 94th plenary meeting of its fifty-third session, on 18 February 1999, the General Assembly had taken note that the President of the General Assembly had appointed three members of the Com-mittee from the African, Eastern European and Latin American and Caribbean States, and that there still remained one member of the Committee to be appointed from among the Asian States.
وذكﱢرت الجمعية كذلك بأنها أحاطت علما، في الجلسة العامة ٤٩ من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين، المعقودة في ٨١ شباط/ فبراير ٩٩٩١، بأن رئيس الجمعية العامة عيﱠن ثلاثة أعضاء في اللجنة من دول أفريقيا وأوروبا الشرقية وأمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، وبأنه من الضروري تعيين عضو في اللجنة من دول آسيا.

There had been a steady increase in the representation of staff from underrepresented and non-represented Member States, with significant increases in the numbers of staff from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and Eastern Europe. That progress had been referred to in the report of the Joint Inspection Unit (A/64/94).
إن التدابير المتخذة ساعدت على تعيين المزيد من الموظفين الآتين من دول ناقصة التمثيل، وتحقيق زيادة ملموسة في نسبة الآتين من دول أفريقيا وآسيا وأمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي وأوروبا الشرقية، وهذا التقدم أشادت به وحدة التفتيش المشتركة في تقريرها (A/64/94).

وفي هذا الصدد يذكر اﻷعضاء أيضا أنه في الجلسة اﻟ ٩٤ من الدورة الثالثة والخمسين، المعقودة في ١٨ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٩، عين رئيس الجمعية العامة ثلاثة أعضاء في اللجنة، من دول أفريقيا وأوروبا الشرقية، وأمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، وأنه لا يزال هناك عضو واحد يتم تعيينه من بين الدول اﻵسيوية.
