I take this opportunity to welcome the draft Treaty on the Prevention of the Placement of Weapons in Outer Space that was introduced by the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China in 2008, as it is a constructive initiative that will contribute to substantive discussions on the non-militarization of outer space.

18. In 2003, the Russian Federation continued to meet its commitments under the agreement (extended by the Russian Federation in 2003 for five more years) on the International Satellite System for Search and Rescue (COSPAS-SARSAT) by making two space objects, namely, Cospas-9 and Cospas-10, available for this system.
18- وفي عام 2003، واصل الاتحاد الروسي الوفاء بالتزاماته بمقتضى اتفاق النظام الساتلي الدولي للبحث والإنقاذ (كوسباس-سارسات) (وهو الاتفاق الذي جرى تمديده في عام 2003 من قبل الاتحاد الروسي لفترة خمس سنوات إضافية) حيث أتاح لهذا النظام جسمين فضائيين هما " Cospas-9 " و " Cospas-10 " .
