Both guideline 14 of the United Nations Principles and Guidelines and the Lilongwe Declaration on Accessing Legal Aid in the Criminal Justice System in Africa recognize the role played by paralegals or similar service providers in providing legal aid services where access to lawyers is limited.

85. Guideline 10 of the United Nations Principles and Guidelines recommends that States adopt special measures to promote children's effective access to justice and to prevent stigmatization.

With regard to legal aid, according to principle 9 of the United Nations Principles and Guidelines on Access to Legal Aid in Criminal Justice Systems (see paragraph 25 above), States have an obligation to establish effective remedies if access to legal aid is undermined, delayed or denied or if persons have not been adequately informed of their right to legal aid.
وفيما يتعلق بالمساعدة القانونية، يتعين على الدول بموجب المبدأ 9 من مبادئ الأمم المتحدة وتوجيهاتها بشأن سبل الحصول على المساعدة القانونية في نظم العدالة الجنائية (انظر الفقرة 25 أعلاه) توفير سبل انتصاف فعّالة في حال تقويض إمكانية الحصول على المساعدة القانونية أو تأخيرها أو رفضها أو في حالة عدم إعلام الأشخاص بحقهم في المساعدة القانونية بصورة ملائمة.

The Guidelines were drafted by the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee with no participation of the Legal Subcommittee, which has led to reactions in the sense that, after review by the Legal Subcommittee, they should be upgraded to become a set of United Nations principles such as those on remote sensing, direct broadcast and use of nuclear power sources in space.

In these circumstances, there are strong reasons to recommend that the specific topic of space debris and its legal implications be brought together as a set of United Nations principles within the framework of a United Nations General Assembly resolution following the proposal of the Czech Republic in its recent submissions to the Legal Subcommittee (A/AC.105.C.2/L.283).
