In addition to the measures described above, the Government continues to work with Aboriginal women in supporting and facilitating initiatives that enhance the well being of First Nations women.

76. The Committee notes with regret the lack of substantial progress made by the State party in its efforts to address residual discrimination against First Nations women and their children in matters relating to Indian status, band membership and matrimonial real property on reserve lands, despite its commitment to resolving this issue through a viable legislative solution (arts. 2 and 5 (d)).
76- وتلاحظ اللجنة بأسف عدم إحراز الدولة الطرف لتقدم كبير في جهودها الرامية إلى التصدي لبقايا التمييز ضد نساء الأمم الأولى وأطفالهن في المسائل المتعلقة بالوضع الهندي، والعضوية في الجمعيات، وحقوق ملكية الزوجين في المحميات، رغم التزامها بتسوية هذه المسألة بإيجاد حل تشريعي مناسب (المادة 2 والمادة 5(د)).

She also wished to know when Parliament would be discussing the draft legislation on First Nation women's participation in governance, whether that legislation had been assessed from a gender perspective and when the proposed amendments to the Canadian Human Rights Act would come into force.
